The Chief of Anyima, Obrempong Ameyaw Amponsem II, has called on the government and national security agencies to act swiftly to prevent possible violence stemming from the escalating Nkoranza Mo Dispute over land ownership in the Kintampo area.
Rising tensions between the Nkoranza and Mo (Dega) traditional authorities have sparked concern, as residents—who have long lived together peacefully—now face growing agitation, particularly among the youth.
Speaking during his annual Yam Festival celebration at Anyima, Obrempong Ameyaw Amponsem II cautioned that if the matter is not resolved quickly, it could erupt into violent clashes leading to the destruction of property and loss of lives.
He expressed worry over the role of social media in spreading false information that worsens the situation, urging young people to remain calm and avoid being influenced by provocative messages.
The Chief appealed directly to the government, the President, and the relevant security agencies to intervene urgently to maintain peace and stability in the area.
Highlighting the historic ties between the Nkoranza and Mo communities, he noted that years of intermarriages have strengthened their bond and that unity should be preserved for mutual growth and coexistence.
Obrempong Ameyaw Amponsem II also commended the harmony among Muslims, Christians, and Traditionalists within the community, emphasizing that religious tolerance remains key to sustainable peace.
His remarks were delivered in the presence of distinguished guests, including Sariki Fanyinama III, National President of the Wangara Communities in Ghana, and other dignitaries who attended the festival, which focused on promoting peace and unity across the region.
