The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has fired back at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for accusing former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta of lying about receiving medical treatment in the US. At a press conference in Accra, NPP National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye revealed that Ofori-Atta is indeed receiving treatment at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in the US.
According to Nana Boakye, Ofori-Atta’s lawyers provided documentation from the Mayo Clinic, including details of his appointment and a suggested return date to Ghana after March. The hospital’s letter also included reliable contact information, a doctor’s name, department name, phone number, and email address, stamped as an authentic document.
This revelation contradicts the OSP’s claim that Ofori-Atta was using his medical condition as an excuse to avoid investigation. The OSP had declared Ofori-Atta a fugitive, accusing him of corruption and corruption-related offenses.
The NPP’s response is a significant development in the ongoing saga surrounding Ofori-Atta’s health and the OSP’s investigation. As the story continues to unfold, one thing is clear: the NPP is standing firmly behind Ofori-Atta, and the OSP’s allegations have sparked a heated debate.
