The stage is set for an epic showdown as Mfantsipim School, Opoku Ware School, and St. Augustine’s College gear up for the NSMQ 2025 finale. These three academic powerhouses, boasting seven national titles between them, will clash in one of the most anticipated finals in the competition’s history.
Scheduled for Thursday, November 6, at the SGS Auditorium, University of Cape Coast, the grand finale promises brilliance, intensity, and fierce competition. For the finalists, this is not just a quiz — it’s a battle of legacy, pride, and supremacy.
Mfantsipim School (BOTWE): Defending Champions on a Mission

Reigning champions Mfantsipim School, affectionately known as BOTWE, enter the NSMQ 2025 finale as the team to beat. They dominated GSTS and Mankranso SHS in the semifinals, proving their class and consistency.
With national titles from 1999, 2014, and 2024, Mfantsipim now aim for a rare back-to-back triumph that would solidify their dominance in NSMQ history. They also finished runners-up in 2000 and 2016, underlining their enduring excellence.
Regionally, the Cape Coast-based giants have excelled as well, winning the Central Regional Championship in 2021 and finishing as runner-up in 2023. Though they placed third regionally this year, their national form remains unmatched. BOTWE now stand just one victory away from a historic fourth title.
Opoku Ware School (OWASS): The Ashanti Powerhouse Returns

Representing the Ashanti Region, Opoku Ware School (OWASS) make a confident return to the grand stage. Their commanding semifinal win over St. Peter’s SHS and Achimota School showcased both power and precision.
OWASS has lifted the NSMQ trophy twice — in 1997 and 2002 — and finished as runners-up several times, including 1995, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2016, 2020, and 2023. Their remarkable consistency makes them one of the competition’s most decorated teams.
After winning the Ashanti Regional Championship earlier this year, OWASS powered through the national stages with unmatched momentum. More than two decades after their last national win, they are determined to reclaim the crown and reignite their legacy.

St. Augustine’s College (AUGUSCO)
Cape Coast’s St. Augustine’s College (AUGUSCO) return to the national final with a clear goal — to capture their third NSMQ title. Their thrilling semifinal victory over Pope John SHS and Amaniampong SHS highlighted their strategic brilliance and composure under pressure.
AUGUSCO first lifted the trophy in 2007 and reclaimed it in 2019, reinforcing their reputation for academic excellence. Their consistent performance this year proves their readiness to challenge for the top once again.
In the Central Regional Championship, they’ve been strong contenders — winners in 2019, runners-up in 2020 and 2022, and second runner-up in 2023. Their regional runner-up finish this year only adds fuel to their determination to regain national glory.
Three Giants, One Trophy
As the curtain rises, only one question remains:
Will Mfantsipim defend their title?
Can Opoku Ware reclaim lost glory?
Or will St. Augustine’s rise again to dominate the NSMQ throne?
Whatever the outcome, the NSMQ 2025 finale is set to deliver an unforgettable clash of intellect, heritage, and pride — a contest that will be remembered for years to come.
