The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has announced plans to stage a demonstration on February 25, 2025, to protest against the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) over the withholding and cancellation of results for some students who sat for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The protest, scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM at Obra Spot in Circle, Accra, aims to put pressure on WAEC and relevant authorities to take immediate action to address the concerns of affected students and prevent such issues in the future.

NUGS has condemned WAEC’s actions, describing them as unjust and an abuse of discretionary power. The union argues that the delays and cancellations have unfairly affected thousands of students, rendering them ineligible for admission into public tertiary institutions.
The situation has sparked widespread concern, with many calling for accountability and fairness in the examination process. NUGS has urged affected students, parents, and concerned stakeholders to join the demonstration and demand justice for the affected students.
In addition to the protest, NUGS has also announced its intention to take legal action against WAEC over the matter, seeking a court declaration to prevent similar incidents in the future.
