Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will resume peace talks between the two opposing factions in the Bawku conflict on April 28. These talks will continue until May 1, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

This step follows former President John Mahama’s renewed support for the peace initiative. He reaffirmed his commitment to back Otumfuo’s efforts to bring lasting peace to the troubled area.

The Manhyia Palace released a statement on April 15 confirming the schedule for the mediation sessions.

“His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will resume mediation of the Bawku crisis from April 28 to May 1, 2025, at Manhyia Palace,” the statement announced.

The Palace urged all parties to cooperate fully. It emphasized that active involvement from everyone is essential to achieve lasting peace.

“Asantehene requests all stakeholders to cooperate for us to find a lasting peace in Bawku,” the statement added.

Key leaders from both sides and other relevant stakeholders will attend the mediation. Otumfuo will personally guide the sessions to encourage dialogue and unity.
