A tragic accident on the Accra-Kumasi Highway claimed more than 10 lives on Tuesday morning, April 22, 2025. The crash happened near Suhum and left several passengers injured.

The accident involved a fuel tanker (GR 1300-16) heading toward Accra and a Sprinter bus (GW 6510-23) traveling to Kumasi. The fuel tanker reportedly veered into the opposite lane and collided with the oncoming bus.

ADO1 Akonnor Opare Ohene Daniel, Public Relations Officer for the Suhum Municipal Fire Service, confirmed the deaths. He added that rescue teams had to pull some victims from the wreckage.

According to the tanker driver’s mate, he fell asleep during the journey. When he woke up, the vehicle had already crossed into the wrong lane.

Medical personnel at the Suhum Government Hospital are treating the injured. The bodies of the deceased have been moved to the hospital’s morgue.
