President John Dramani Mahama has reassured Ghanaians that Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is recovering well after her recent illness. He gave the update during the launch of a nationwide sanitary pad distribution program on Thursday, April 24, 2025.

President Mahama shared that he spoke with the Vice President the day before. “She asked me to extend her greetings and let you all know that she is recovering and getting some rest,” he said. “She is feeling well, and she will soon rejoin us to continue working on the reset agenda.”

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang fell ill on March 28, 2025, and sought medical treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre the next day. The Office of the President confirmed she was in stable condition in a statement released on March 30.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister for Government Communications, explained that experts advised the Vice President to seek further treatment abroad. She began a three-week medical leave on April 7, 2025, to focus on her recovery.
