President John Dramani Mahama made a significant stop during his working visit to Mali on Saturday, as he took the time to acknowledge and greet Ghanaian residents in Bamako. The President’s vehicle came to a halt, and he stepped out to interact with his compatriots, showcasing his dedication to the welfare of Ghanaian citizens abroad.
This heartfelt gesture was part of President Mahama’s day-long visit to Mali, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two nations. Upon arrival, he was warmly received by Malian leader, General Assimi Goita.
During his visit, President Mahama emphasized the historic ties between Ghana and Mali, highlighting the enduring friendship built upon the foundations laid by their founding fathers, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and President Keita. The President also discussed key issues such as transit trade, cultural ties, and regional security concerns, including the growing threat of insurgency and terrorism in West Africa.
President Mahama’s visit underscores Ghana’s commitment to good neighborliness and regional cooperation. He is set to continue his diplomatic tour, visiting Niger and Burkina Faso next.
