Independent parliamentary candidate for Evalue Gwira in the 2024 elections, Prophet Elisha Joshua, has confirmed that the replacement statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is ready for reinstallation.
He revealed that the statue will soon be re-erected at its original location — the Effiankwanta Regional Hospital Roundabout in Sekondi.
The original monument, mounted in honor of President Akufo-Addo’s contribution to the development of the Western Region, was mysteriously dismantled by unknown persons shortly after the 2024 general elections.
Prophet Joshua, who had earlier pledged to restore the statue, condemned the act, describing it as political intolerance that should not be tolerated.
Speaking on Takoradi-based Connect FM, he explained that preparations for the reinstallation were far advanced.
“The main reason why the statue was removed was because they claimed the road was not completed. Now, the road is done, and there should be no objection to reinstalling it,” he said.
He added that the roundabout and the statue’s base remain intact, and formal approval will soon be sought from regional authorities before the reinstallation.
“The new statue has been molded, and we’ll consult the regional leaders for their consent before reinstalling it,” he added.
While no official date has been announced, Prophet Joshua assured the public that the restored statue of former President Akufo-Addo will soon return to its original site.
