National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has responded to allegations that he used GH₵173,940 to purchase furniture for his office after his appointment.

In a statement, Gyamfi described the allegations as “false” and “mischievous”. He explained that the funds in question were actually allocated for the renovation and furnishing of the NDC’s national headquarters, and not for his personal office.

Gyamfi further clarified that the procurement process for the renovation and furnishing was transparent and followed the necessary procedures. He also challenged the accusers to provide evidence to support their claims.

The NDC’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, also weighed in on the matter, stating that the party’s leadership had authorized the renovation and furnishing of the headquarters, and that Gyamfi had acted within his mandate as Communications Officer.

The allegations against Gyamfi are the latest in a series of accusations and counter-accusations between the NDC and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). The opposition party has been accused of trying to discredit Gyamfi, who has been a vocal critic of the government.
