American rapper and producer Sean “Diddy” Combs will spend four years and two months in prison after a federal court convicted him of prostitution-related crimes.
He will also serve five years under supervision after release and pay a $500,000 fine.
Judge Condemns Abuse of Power
Judge Arun Subramanian acknowledged Diddy’s difficult childhood and family devotion but said his actions showed abuse of power.
“This was not just a sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll story,” the judge said. “You used your power and influence to control women.”
Subramanian added that Diddy’s wealth allowed the misconduct to continue for years.
“You had the resources to stop, but you didn’t. Deterrence demands a serious sentence.”
Diddy Remains Silent in Court
Diddy stayed quiet throughout the hearing, his hands folded in his lap. He looked down when the judge mentioned Cassie Ventura and Jane, another woman who testified under a pseudonym.
His family and supporters also remained silent. The courtroom stayed tense until the end.
Cassie Ventura’s Lawyers Praise Her Courage
Cassie Ventura’s lawyers, Douglas Wigdor and Meredith Firetog of Wigdor LLP, credited her with sparking the criminal case.
“Cassie’s complaint in November 2023 set this process in motion,” they said. “She showed bravery that inspired justice.”
They noted that although the jury cleared Diddy of sex trafficking, they found him guilty of transporting women for prostitution.
“Her courage has brought real change to the entertainment industry,” they added.
Diddy Apologizes for His Actions
During his statement, Diddy apologized to Cassie, Jane, and victims of domestic violence.
“I’m deeply sorry for the harm I caused,” he said. “My actions were wrong. I lost control, and I needed help.”
He said his poor decisions cost him everything.
“I lost my freedom, my career, my businesses, and my reputation. I’ve been humbled and broken. I hate myself for it and apologize to my seven children.”
His Children Ask for Mercy
Diddy’s adopted son Quincy Brown told the court his father had changed.
“My father has learned his lesson,” he said. “He’s evolving and will not risk his freedom again.”
His daughters D’Lila, Chance, and Jessie became emotional as they pleaded for a chance to heal as a family.
“We’re tired of being strong,” D’Lila said. “Please, Your Honor, let our family heal together.”
Diddy’s Final Moments in Court
The 55-year-old walked into court in a cream sweater and white shirt, greeting his lawyers and family before taking his seat.
The sentencing followed his July 2 conviction, closing a major chapter in his legal troubles and reshaping his once-powerful image in the music world.
