Businessman Alhaji Seidu Agongo has spoken out about the challenges he faced during President Akufo-Addo’s administration, which lasted eight years. Agongo’s bank accounts were frozen by the government, causing significant financial difficulties.
In an interview on Channel One TV’s Face to Face, Agongo shared how he continued to sell fertilizers despite the scrutiny they faced. Many farmers, who were witnesses in his trial, testified in his defense, and he managed to sustain some of his other businesses throughout the turbulent period.
Agongo recalled how the investigation led to a loss of business partnerships, with partners in China and other countries stopping business dealings with him due to perceived political risks.
He also criticized former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison’s role in the collapse of his business. On January 28, all charges against Agongo and Dr. Stephen Opuni, former CEO of COCOBOD, were formally withdrawn by the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine.
