A tragic discovery has been made in Ghana, where Senegalese goalkeeper Cheikh Touré was found dead, according to an official statement from Senegal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dakar.
Preliminary reports from the Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs suggest that Touré may have fallen victim to a network of scams and extortion of funds, though the exact details surrounding his death remain uncertain.
In its statement, the Ministry confirmed that the Senegalese Embassy in Accra has verified the identity of the deceased and that his body has been deposited at the Ebenezer Tarfo morgue in Kumasi, located in Ghana’s Ashanti Region.
The Embassy has dispatched two representatives to Kumasi to work closely with Ghanaian authorities in handling both administrative and judicial processes related to the case. Their responsibilities include liaising with Touré’s family and facilitating the repatriation of his remains once all necessary authorisations are secured.
Authorities in both countries have yet to provide additional information on the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, the Senegalese football community and the public have expressed shock and sadness over the untimely death of the young goalkeeper, whose career and life have been cut short under tragic circumstances.
