The Ambassador-Designate of Italy to Ghana, H.E. Laura Ranalli on Friday, 26th February, 2025 presented her Open Letters to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Hon. Minister welcomed and congratulated the envoy. He recounted the long-standing relations between Ghana and Italy, indicating that Italy is a place were at lot of Ghanaians have integrated.
He assured the Ambassador of the government’s willingness to collaborate with the Italians in the field of Agribusiness to drive Ghana’s Economic diplomacy and create employment for the youth.
He interrogated the possibility of discussing and subsequent signing of an MoU on legal employment to bridge the labour gap.
During her remarks, H. E. Ranalli, congratulated and thanked the Minister for the warm reception, while recounting on the friendly relations between the two countries.
She revealed that Italy is in the process of introducing the Mattei Plan, a Private, Public Partnership programme launched by the Italian Government to partner African governments for projects in the Agribusiness, Finance, and the Trade sectors and indicated that it was a platform that Ghana could tap into for the development of the economy.
On training, she intimated that the Italian Government had established an agreement with the Don Bosco Technical Institute, Ashaiman, Accra where students are trained for the Italian job market.
She indicated that thirty people have been recruited to work in Italy since the start of the programme in 2024.
The meeting ended with both parties reaffirming the commitment towards strong ties and deeper collaboration.
