Wofa Seth is a blind musician who lives in Mampehia a small town in the Techiman municipal in Bono East region of Ghana, In an interview with AU TV, wofa Seth narrated his life story from childhood up till now.
He said “I was not born blind as a child but lost my left eye when I was sixteen years, it was in school where I and my colleagues were clearing weeds on our school compound, unfortunately a friend’s Cutlass stroke a stone to hit my left eye and that was the beginning of my predicament which scattered my dreams of becoming a pastor in the future.
Life became hard for me because I had to drop out of school at the age sixteen because the blind left eye was always itching and was affecting the other one, i decided to learn a carpentry work but due to my eyes, measuring and cutting also became difficult for me. It was there I decided to poison myself because I thought I was useless and did not want to be a burden to my family.
But unfortunately for me, my mother found out my poison content hidden under my bed and talked me out.
In other not to be a burden, I tried doing many things like farming, trading and many more but due to my sight and lack of capital, none was successful so for the second time I decided to kill myself again, when I was laying on bed planning on how to kill myself, a song from Yaw Sarpong motivated and deleted the negative mindset from me. I then realized that since I am talented with music, I can still preach the gospel of God through music.
I was advised by doctors to mobilize money for eye surgery which made me sell a small land I had but couldn’t do anything, my family couldn’t help because there was no money, even my church which was my last hope didn’t help me, I was in a studio recording music when my doctor advised that my left blind eye must be removed else I will affect the other to be totally blind, it was then removed and replaced with artificial eye.
My biggest challenges now is that, I’m became totally blind since the year 2016 and I have been doing gospel music to help the work of God but I don’t have a producer and a manager.
I want to plead with anyone who will be touched by my story and willing to help me do that in good faith and I know God blesses a cheerful giver” (Seth Owusu Ansah, Mampehia, Techiman Bono East region Ghana. WhatsApp +233535678886).
