The President of the Republic, H. E. John Dramani Mahama hosted the diplomatic Corps to the annual New Year’s Greetings at the Jubilee House on, 27th February, 2025.

Present at the ceremony were H. E. Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President of the Republic the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, Members of the Council of State, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Envoys from Sixty-two (62) Embassies and High Commissions, International Organizations, and some Senior State Officials with Envoys Choir of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ghana Police Band providing music for the occasion.

Delivering his remarks, the H. E. the President extended on behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, warm wishes for the New Year to the Diplomatic Corps and mentioned that the gathering with the Diplomats, represented a renewed hope for partnerships and promise of new beginnings.

He used the occasion to reaffirm Ghana’s commitment to naturing the bonds of friendship, cooperation, and goodwill that exists between Ghana and her bilateral and multilateral partners who were represented at the event. He also used the opportunity to enumerate some key Government initiatives to be undertaken during his tenure in office.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), on his part extended his warmest wishes to the gathering for a year filled with peace, prosperity and strengthened partnerships.

He expressed gratitude for their presence at the inauguration of the President and Vice President as well as the numerous congratulatory messages received from their various governments, a testament to the confidence reposed in Ghana’s effort in advancing its democratic process he said.

He intimated that the new year was a reminder to reflect on past challenges, achievements and reaffirm our dedication to the principles of the global community despite the various challenges.

He reaffirmed Ghana’s dedication to fostering multilateralism and the tenets of diplomacy in the firm belief that isolationism would not serve the global community’s best interests.

Responding on behalf of his counterparts, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, H. E. Maher Kheir, congratulated H. E. John Dramani Mahama, and the Vice-President for their successful elections and wished them and the people of Ghana, a rewarding, successful, and prosperous new year, noting that this year marks the beginning of a new era of progress, peace and prosperity for Ghana and its people.
