The Resident Representative of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS)-Designate to Ghana, His Excellency Mohammed Lawan Gana, presented his Open Letters to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzato Ablakwa, on Wednesday, 26th February, 2025, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the Hon. Minister exchanged pleasantries and congratulated the Ambassador-designate on his appointment. He stated that this period is a historical one for Ghana and ECOWAS with regards to the 50th Anniversary celebration of the organization.
He further commended the ECOWAS for its continued engagement with Member States in fostering cooperation, addressing regional challenges, and promoting socio-economic development. He also reemphasized Ghana’s dedication to regional peace, security, and economic integration.
His Excellency Mohammed Lawan Gana congratulated the Hon. Minister on his appointment as the Minister for Foreign Affairs and reaffirmed ECOWAS’ commitment to strengthening its relations with Ghana and other Member States, indicating that ECOWAS was a shining example of a functional Regional Economic Community, whose mandate must be upheld to the benefit of the people.
He expressed his excitement for the 50th anniversary celebration of the organisation and its impending launch and pledged to continuously work with the government of Ghana towards the achievement of aspiration of the Community.
