Tensions escalated at the Bui Power Authority (BPA) as a group of aggrieved youth stormed the premises, demanding the immediate exit of all employees, from junior staff to top management.
The youth, believed to be aligned with the winning political party, accused the current staff of bias and alleged mismanagement during the tenure of the outgoing administration. They claimed their demands were necessary to pave the way for what they described as “political realignment” within the organization.
Eyewitnesses reported that the demonstrators arrived at the BPA offices in their numbers, chanting slogans and carrying placards. Their actions caused a temporary halt to operations as workers were left stranded and unsure of their safety.
“We are here to make it clear that we won’t tolerate any staff who are not loyal to the new administration,” a spokesperson for the group declared. “It’s time for new faces and fresh ideas.”
In response to the incident, security forces were dispatched to the scene to restore calm and prevent any escalation of violence. The management of Bui Power Authority has since issued a statement condemning the actions of the youth, describing the invasion as unlawful and disruptive.
“We urge all stakeholders to allow for due process and refrain from taking actions that undermine the integrity of the institution,” the statement read.“We are fed up. Not even John Mahama will stop us because the country belongs to all of us,” the spokesperson declared, adding that their demands were simple: improved management and fair opportunities for everyone.
The situation has sparked widespread reactions, with some members of the public condemning the actions as politically motivated and calling for a more professional approach to post-election transitions. Others, however, argue that the youth’s concerns should be addressed to ensure inclusivity in the organization.
Authorities are yet to announce any formal investigation or measures to resolve the standoff. The incident underscores the growing tensions in the aftermath of the recent elections, raising concerns about the stability of key state institutions.
