Residents of Awutu Papaase No. 2 in the Awutu Senya West District are living in fear after a violent land invasion. On Monday, a group of about 20 land guards stormed a block factory with an excavator and opened fire.

The gunfire forced many residents to flee into nearby bushes. Eyewitnesses said the attackers claimed ownership of the land and tried to take control of the factory.

Police from the Central East Region arrested two suspects. The others managed to escape and remain at large.

Dominic Oppong Atta, owner of the factory, narrowly avoided being shot by a stray bullet. He blamed Salifu Adams, the NDC Constituency Organizer for Awutu Senya West, for the attack. According to him, Adams, who also works as an estate developer, uses land guards to intimidate and seize properties.

Mr. Atta urged authorities to arrest the rest of the attackers and restore peace to the community.
