The World Bank donated 2,000 seedlings—1,000 coconut and 1,000 palm oil—to farmers in Adansi South District. This effort targets poverty and unemployment through agriculture.

District Chief Executive (DCE) Oheneba Kwabena Andoh and District Director of Agriculture Alfred Mensah handed over the seedlings in Bronikrom. They represented the World Bank during the ceremony.

Speaking to Adom News, DCE Andoh said the project aims to improve both health and income for residents. He stressed that coconut and palm oil farming can significantly boost livelihoods.

Agriculture Director Alfred Mensah praised the farmers’ dedication, especially those in Bronikrom. He said the World Bank gave more seedlings after seeing the success of earlier projects. He also applauded the farmers for their hard work.

Many beneficiaries thanked the program for providing quality seedlings. One farmer said they used to rely on random market seeds, which often failed to grow.

Another farmer mentioned that stipends used to help ease financial pressure but have not been paid for three months. She urged authorities to resume payments to sustain farmers’ involvement in the project.
