The Bono East Regional Command of the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) has apprehended five suspects in connection with the theft of food items intended for distribution to senior high schools in the region.

The suspects include Michael Damoah, the chief storekeeper at Techiman Senior High School, and his assistant, Madam Rebecca Twum Yeboah. Others arrested are Yaw Owusu, the owner of a Kia Rhino truck (registration number AS 9584-14), Kwabena Oppong, the truck driver, and Emmanuel Alexander, the driver’s mate.

Stolen Food Supplies

The suspects are accused of stealing 56 bags of 50-kilogram Lucy-branded rice meant for delivery to Jema SHS in the Kintampo South District and Kintampo SHS in the Kintampo North Municipality.

Official Statement

Bono East Regional Minister, Mr. Kwasi Adu-Gyan, disclosed the arrests during a press briefing, stating that the authorities are working to ensure justice and prevent further misappropriation of resources meant for schools in the region.

The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects are expected to face prosecution.
