Nana Kwame Bediako, the leader of the New Force party, has dismissed rumors that he didn’t vote for himself in the 2024 presidential elections. Speaking at a press conference on December 23, 2024, Bediako explained that after casting his vote, he was simply counting the number of candidates on the ballot paper to ensure it tallied up to 13, which led to the misconception.
He emphasized that it’s absurd to think he wouldn’t vote for himself, especially after the extensive “276 tour” he undertook throughout the country. Bediako expressed disappointment in the rumor-mongering, stating that as a nation, “we shouldn’t destroy our own”
Additionally, Bediako’s wife, Ruby, had earlier addressed rumors that she didn’t vote for her husband, claiming that her vote mysteriously went missing. She highlighted irregularities during the elections, including the prevention of some polling agents from being present at collation centers.
Despite the challenges, the New Force party performed remarkably well, securing third place in the presidential race with 84,478 votes. Bediako’s clarification puts to rest speculation about his voting decision, and he remains committed to his party’s vision for Ghana.
