Pope Francis, 88, suffered a fall at his residence on January 16, 2025, injuring his right forearm. The Vatican reported that while the arm was not fractured, it was immobilized as a precautionary measure.
This incident marks the second fall in just over a month. On December 6, 2024, the pontiff fell and hit his chin on his bedside table, resulting in facial bruising.
Despite these health challenges, Pope Francis has maintained his busy schedule. On the morning of January 16, he met with various dignitaries, including the Bektashi Islamic leader of Tirana, Albania, His Grace Haji Dede Edmond Brahimaj, and Nosipho Nausca-Jean Jezile, chairwoman of the World Food Security Committee.
In recent years, the pope has faced mobility issues, often using a wheelchair due to knee pain. He has also undergone surgeries, including abdominal surgery in June 2023 for a hernia.
The Vatican has not announced any changes to the pope’s public schedule following this latest fall.
